Companies from industry, technology and consumer goods rely on a working approach that consistently brings together design quality and technical feasibility.
The result: more stable development processes, fewer iterations and clearer decision bases – with better alignment between management, engineering and design. And products that convince aesthetically and function economically.
Projects in collaboration with Prof. Stefan Lengyel: Berker | Hager, Dormakaba and Mauser Sitzkultur.
For 3M, Lengyel Design integrated projection technology into a device the size of a briefcase. Folded, it is no larger and no heavier than comparable portable devices – yet unfolded it delivers one and a half times the brightness and resolution.
The backlit LCD screen, which rises into place as the unit opens, makes this possible. This positioned the product squarely for the US education market – institutions seeking flexible use of their classrooms without the investment in stationary projectors.
For Berker, Lengyel Design created a modular switch system derived from a single formal principle, the spherical segment – a platform that reduces variants, streamlines production and strengthens brand identity across the entire range. The premium B.3 line gained genuine metal surfaces formed from an extruded aluminium profile – where competitors relied on lacquered plastic.
The S.1 base line, redesigned in the same series, stands apart from conventional entry-level ranges in its simplicity. Developed with Prof. Stefan Lengyel.
For Gira, Berker and Jung, Lengyel Design developed the room-scene remote control – commissioned through their joint subsidiary INSTA Elektro and marketed under all three brands: one design carrying three brands. The shared product platform lowered development and manufacturing costs – precisely the principle INSTA was founded on.
More than 25 switching functions were translated into an intuitively legible interface architecture. The remote became a reference in lighting control and, with its iconic design, shaped the image of this category of devices.
For DHL and Deutsche Post, Lengyel Design provided the design contribution to the worldwide introduction of the new corporate identity and developed the international corporate design manuals for buildings and furnishings; for Deutsche Postbank, the design work around its public listing. The focus lay on three-dimensional corporate design and the design of self-service terminals and technical equipment for DHL, Deutsche Post and Postbank; for the DHL Innovation Center, interactive demonstrators were created.
The scope included the wayfinding system for the Post Tower in Bonn, the DHL Group's headquarters.
Specialists from branding, market research and application-oriented research complement the design and technical core expertise of Lengyel Design.
